What it is
memory.bike starts with your explanation of an idea, including the parts you are unsure about. Work through a question, compare your reasoning with a distinction, and try it in a fresh situation. Keep your corrections and revisions so you can return to how your explanation changed.
The private trial can create an AI working draft from your explanation and offer feedback on your answer. You can correct its reading. Source claims may be unverified, and completing a ride does not establish understanding in another situation.
The parts separate along the axle so you can follow the connections between them.
Automatic motion is off because your device prefers reduced motion.

Connections held in tension
Crossed spokes connect the hub to the rim, carrying tension that supports the wheel and transfers forces between its parts.
Spokes / A SpokeA spoke names a connection you have worked through and lights up so you can find it again.
A lit spoke marks a connection you have worked through, while an unlit spoke remains open for investigation. Your route names each connection so you can return to the parts that need more work.
Where the wheel comparison helps
- Preserves
- The wheel gives you a way to locate individual connections within an explanation and return to the parts you want to work on.
- Leaves out
- Understanding can change its structure as you learn, and a connection that helped in one situation may not apply in another.
- Don’t infer
- An assembled wheel does not mean you have finished learning, and the lit spokes neither measure your ability nor prove that you can use an idea elsewhere.
One explanation, taken through the same three stages the app rides. Start with whichever is closest to what you know.
Follow charge and energy separately
01 · Explain
The bulb uses up some current, so less current returns to the battery.
02 · Probe
A battery powers one bulb in a closed loop. Compare the current on either side once the circuit has settled.
If less charge left the bulb each second than entered it, where would the extra charge go?
The arrows show conventional current, and the two ammeters compare its size.
03 · Clarify
Current measures charge passing each second. Charge does not keep accumulating in the bulb, so the current is equal on both sides while electrical energy becomes heat and light.
- When it applies
- The same current flows through components in a single series path once the circuit is steady.
- When it does not
- Current can divide between branches, and charge can accumulate temporarily during switching.
The ride carries on from here: apply the distinction somewhere new, then record what changed.
- OpenStax: series circuitsIntroductory physics textbook; the drawing assumes a steady circuit and negligible wire resistance.
Check the boundary behind a familiar name
01 · Explain
Subnets belong to zones in AWS, so I assume two Google Cloud VMs in different zones need different subnets.
02 · Probe
You are placing two VMs in different zones of the same Google Cloud region and deciding which subnet each can use.
Does the familiar word “subnet” carry the same boundary in both clouds?
The same names describe different boundaries Network boundary AWS Google Cloud VPC One region Global Subnet One zone One region Two zones in one region Separate subnets Can share a subnet 03 · Clarify
A Google Cloud subnet spans a region, so both VMs can use it even though they are in different zones.
- When it applies
- This applies to VMs in different zones within the same Google Cloud region, where a regional subnet can serve both.
- When it does not
- It does not allow one subnet to span different regions, and sharing a subnet does not remove firewall restrictions.
The ride carries on from here: apply the distinction somewhere new, then record what changed.

- AWS subnet documentationVendor documentation on subnets within a single Availability Zone.
Test what the comparison predicts
01 · Explain
The Higgs field is like a crowd that slows particles down, and that is what gives them mass.
02 · Probe
Take a massive particle moving freely with no external force, and compare its position at equally spaced times.
Would the particle lose speed if the crowd comparison described the mechanism?
Each dot marks a position after the same amount of time, so equal gaps mean the speed has stayed constant.
03 · Clarify
Interaction with the Higgs field can give an elementary particle rest mass without slowing it down or draining its energy.
- When it applies
- The interaction idea helps explain how some elementary particles acquire rest mass through the Higgs field.
- When it does not
- It does not describe particles moving through a material that slows them down, so predictions based on drag do not carry over.
Limits of the crowd comparison
- Preserves
- The comparison links mass to an interaction that differs between particles rather than to a property of each particle in isolation.
- Leaves out
- It leaves out the field mechanism and how the Higgs field changes the behaviour of other elementary fields.
- Do not infer
- Do not infer that particles slow down or lose energy, or that photons are massless because they move too quickly to be caught.

The loop
Each pass through the five steps is a ride, with your explanation kept for the next time you return.
Explain
Describe how you understand the idea in your own words, including any gaps or assumptions you want to check.
Probe
Answer a question that brings a particular assumption into view and helps identify what to work on next.
Clarify
Work through the missing explanation or distinction, using examples and sources that show why it matters.
Apply
Use your revised explanation in an unfamiliar situation to check what carries over and where it stops applying.
Revisit
Revise your explanation and return to your saved work, keeping what you tried and what remains untested in view.

Storage and handling
Your saved explanations, answers and route history are stored on your device. Starting an AI ride or requesting feedback sends text to a private backend and its model providers. Optional sync and how to delete stored work are explained in the privacy policy.
